In the heart of Bolgheri, our Bolgheri Rosso DOC 2022 is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah vines grown on sandy, marine-origin soils. A unique microclimate, shaped by the Tyrrhenian breeze, ensures slow ripening and gives the wine remarkable freshness, structure, and elegance.
An intense, well-balanced red with notes of ripe red fruit, a true expression of our estate and the Bolgheri terroir.
TASTING NOTES
The coral red, intense and deep, fades towards purple tones. The varietal notes of Syrah explode on the nose, with hints of small red berries of undergrowth and Mediterranean scrub. The Cabernet Sauvignon, austere and elegant, emerges with spicy notes, liquorice and cocoa. The flavour is characterised by a dense tannic texture, it makes its entrance in the mouth forthright and exuberant, and closes with a fresh and vibrant finish.
ORIGIN AND TYPE OF TERRAIN
Vineyards with an estimated age of over 20 years, located in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci, registered in the DOC Bolgheri register, among the first to be planted. The active layer of the soil is deep, characterised by a franc-sandy grain size, poorly endowed with organic substance and tending to be acidic.
PAIRINGS
It goes well with very tasty dishes, from the Tuscan tradition as well as international cuisine: bread and oil, seasoned pecorino cheese in the fossa, succulent and flavoursome sliced meats, legume soups. Excellent with pasta dressed with red sauces, lasagne, creamy risottos, grilled meat and cheese on raclette.
VINIFICATION
The most beautiful bunches, each at the optimal time of phenolic ripeness, are hand-picked and placed in small crates. Further manual selection on vibrating tables is followed by destemming and crushing. Alcoholic fermentation is conducted by selected yeasts in steel vats at 28-30° C. Upon racking, the flower wine is separated and this alone is destined for Bolgheri Rosso DOC.
AGEING
Aging continues in French oak barriques and fine terracotta jars, where malolactic fermentation is completed.
BOTTLING
Bottled during the summer following the harvest, the wine continues its ageing process, maturing for at least six months in the bottle.
