Bolgheri Rosso

DOC

In the heart of the magnificent land of Bolgheri, the ancient vines of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon extend harmoniously, intertwining their roots in the soil steeped in the ancient tales of the metalliferous hills.

It is on this land rich in sand and alluvial deposits, witnesses of its ancient marine origins, that our Terre dei Ghelfi Bolgheri Rosso DOC is born.

The gentle caresses of the sea breeze from the Tyrrhenian Sea make their presence felt, carrying with them the salty scents that embrace the grape clusters, slowly and patiently maturing in the warmth of the summer sun.

It is a harmonious blend of nature and environment, a symphony that is reflected in the glass when the wine has spent a year since the harvest and reveals itself in its splendor.

The deep color that settles in the glass captures the eye, inviting you on a sensory journey. The intoxicating scent of red fruit wafts through the air, evoking images of trees laden with sweet temptations.

And when the sip envelops the taste buds, the freshness that only the sea can offer comes to life, accompanied by a pleasant savoriness that reveals the complexity and elegance of this unique wine.

Terre dei Ghelfi Bolgheri Rosso DOC is an experience that embraces the soul and the senses, a journey through a territory rich in history and beauty, where nature and the art of man merge into an indissoluble union.

The intense and deep coral red shade gradually fades into purple tones. On the nose, varietal notes of Syrah burst forth, with hints of small red forest fruits and Mediterranean scrub. The Cabernet Sauvignon, austere and elegant, emerges with spicy notes, licorice, and cocoa. The flavor is characterized by a dense tannic texture, entering the palate straightforward and exuberant, closing with a fresh and vibrant finish.

This wine pairs well with highly flavorful dishes, both from the Tuscan tradition and international cuisine. It complements bread and oil, aged pecorino cheese, succulent and savory cold cuts, and legume soups. It’s excellent with pasta dressed in rich tomato-based sauces, lasagna, creamy risottos, grilled meats, and cheese served on a raclette.

The vineyards, estimated to be over 20 years old, are located in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci and are registered in the Bolgheri DOC appellation. They were among the first to be planted in this area.

The active layer of soil is deep, characterized by a sandy loam texture, with low organic matter and a slightly acidic tendency.

The finest grape clusters, each at the optimal phenolic ripeness, are handpicked and gently laid in small crates. After further manual selection on vibrating tables, destemming and crushing follow. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out by selected yeasts in stainless steel tanks at 28-30°C. After racking, only the flower wine is destined for Bolgheri Rosso DOC.

The aging continues in French oak barriques and in terracotta amphorae, where the malolactic fermentation is completed.
